Building the path less traveled

Search fund entrepreneurs are a unique bunch. It takes an outsized amount of self-confidence to decide that your career will take you directly to the top of a company needing turnaround. To understand them, their passions, and needs from a partner, we conducted audience research, culled through hundreds of existing site pages, and eventually centered messaging around a line from one of our interviews, “Search entrepreneurs bet on themselves. We bet on them.” 

Design brought Pacific Lake’s optimism and long-term, supportive philosophy to the forefront with poppy contrasting oranges and blues and headline styling with serif/sans-serif tension.

The Brief

Pacific Lake needed to grab the attention of high-caliber MBAs as they exited school and set off on their next adventure as CEO, but their web presence was corporate-bland and didn’t give the firm credit for its dynamic, growth-focused ethos.

Modern Look, New Energy
We identified a position to center PL’s story (a celebratory “builder’s circle”) and brought it to life with optimistic color, punchy statements, and animation that ensure they stand out against their more buttoned-up and dated competitors.
